The Senator, who is currently representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, made the call through his Twitter handle, adding that opening more doors for education will invariably closes the doors to prisons.
"Dear President @MBuhari,
"Invest in education, not just in anti corruption. Instead of throwing people in jail, remember that he who opens the doors of a school, closes the doors of prisons. It is sad that you have built not ONE school. Not even one. Yet you want crime to end?", Ben Murray-Bruce tweeted
Ben Murray-Bruce, whose tenure in the 8th Senate ends May 29, 2019 will not be part of the 9th National Assembly.
Meanwhile, several Nigerians while responding to the senator's call, have risen to the defence of the President.
One Tife @Tife4Naija swiftly responded:
"Dear Senator,
Please stop collecting 13m salary per month, no lawmaker of any developed country with good education collects that much. A House of Common member in the UK only collect around 7k pounds per month, you guys pocket over 42k dollars per month."
Also, Lukemon Owolabi @Lukemonowolabi responded: "You cannot talk the President out of the corruption issue..it's a very important project, the guilty always seem to be very afraid, don't worry, nobody will forget your AMCON debt, it will always be topical, state governments will take care of schools."
