The World Intellectual Property Day Celebration is a day set aside all over the world to celebrate creators and inventors  such as artists, developers, content creators, musicians, actors, producers, etc. It is marked every year in April 26.

The theme of this year's celebration, which will also be marked in Nigeria, is "Reach For Gold: IP & Sports". The event, which will hold at the Lagos State National Stadium Conference Centre, is organized by the Friends of the Creators Foundation (FCF), the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), National Films and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) and the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC).

The event will feature special recognition/awards to some notable Nigerian Sports Heroes, paper presentations among others.

The foremost Sports Lawyer, Sports Writer and Founder of Little Tigers Youth Academy, Barr. Amaka Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya will be the Guest Speaker at the occasion and she will be speaking on a topic, "Intellectual Property Law and Sports Business in Nigeria".

Barr. Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya is the daughter of frontline Rights Activist and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN). She studied Law at the University of Nottingham and obtained her LLM from the University of Wales, Cardiff.

Despite being licensed to practice as a Lawyer in the United Kingdom, having obtained her first and second degrees in the UK, her love and passion for Sports development in Nigeria brought her home to contribute to the growth of Sports and Sports Law in Nigeria.

Barr. Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya holds a Diploma in Investment Compliance with Chattered Institute of Securities and Investments (UK) and has over 10 years experience in the banking and capital market sectors in UK and  Nigeria as a Regulatory Compliance Lawyer. She chaired the Rules Review and Development Committee of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

Being a sport lover, Barr. Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya specialises in Corporate and Commercial Law, Developing Expertise in Regulatory Compliance and Sports Law. She has written several articles on Sports Law and development including "Minors in Football in Nigeria: Safeguarding their Rights and Securing Their Interests".

She recently founded the Tiger Active Sports Centre in 2019. Beverley has carved a niche for herself in Sports Law. She heads the industry in Nigeria.

Barr. Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya is also a qualified mediator and a member of the Panel of Neutrals at the Lagos Multidoor Court and the Lagos Court of Arbitration. She is married and blessed with three kids.

Speaking about the WIPO Day Celebration in Nigeria, Barr. Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya said, "I am honoured to be presenting a paper on Sports Business and IP Law in Honour of World Intellectual Property Day on 26th April 2019 at the National Stadium Conference Centre, Lagos.

"It's a great time to be in sports and so much is happening. I call on all sports fans, industry sports people, etc, to this special celebration of Law and Sports on World Intellectual Property Day".

This year's edition of the World Intellectual Property Day Celebration will be the third that will be marked consecutively by the Friends of the Creator Foundation, whose Board of Trustees Chairman and Secretary is Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo and Barr. Rockson Igelige respectively.
