Delta APC Youth Leadership Visits Petroleum Minister, Makes Case for Youth Empowerment

Delegates of the Coalition of Delta APC Youth Leaders on Tuesday 10th December, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of State, ministry of Petroleum recourses H.E Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva at the federal capital territory, Abuja. The APC youths leaders discussed vital challenges facing the Party and her youths cross the Niger Delta region.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Andy Ogeili elucidated the purpose of the visit which aimed at fostering and creating a working relationship with the Honourable Minister to build the strength and unity of the party. Andy used the opportunity to illustrate and suggest a better way forward for the empowerment of youths of Niger Delta and the South-South geopolitical zone.

He also congratulated the Minister for the victory recorded in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State, which saw the emergence of the APC candidate Chief David Lyon as winner of the election and thanked His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Chief Timipre Sylva into his cabinet as Minister for State, Petroleum Resources.

Notwithstanding, the coordinator of the Youth leaders explained the birth of the Coalition of Delta APC Youth leaders and said that it is a conglomerate of APC Youth leaders across the three senatorial district of Delta State with a common interest to unify and strengthen the party for progress. He also eulogized the efforts of the Minister in rebranding APC as a party through his political skills with intelligence that contributorily metamorphosed to the well deserved victory of APC in Bayelsa State. The youth leaders declared their unconditional support to the Honourable Minister but however, demanded that the plights of the youths in the region, especially Delta State should be addressed positively.

The leaders commended the Honourable Minister for his receptiveness and drive in the unification of Bayelsa APC and stated that no one can deny the fact that it was the unity of purpose in Bayelsa APC that led to the victory of the party in the just concluded gubernatorial election. The youth leaders said the body has resolved to join in what will go down in history as "the greatest demonstration of love for our great party APC".

The Coordinator Comrade Andy Ogeili Vereze who was a Councilorship Candidate of the party in 2014 and also a Stakeholder of the party in Isoko North drew the Attention of the minister to some vital issues militating against the party in Niger Delta region especially the Delta State, which he said includes neglect of youths with great potentials, zeal, dexterous efforts in terms of empowerment and employment and also call for a unified APC in Delta.

The Honourable Minister, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant Hon. Umar Farouk, thanked the Youth leaders for finding time to familiarize and associate with the Minister in order to create a working relationship.

He also charged the youths to be steadfast in any endeavour that the ministry is sure to move Nigeria to the next level under the leadership of the Honourable Minister and also confirm the ministry partnership to build, unify and strengthen Delta State APC youths.
